What WOOD You Do?

Hey bloggers, its Drunken Stampers time again.  So head off to our virtual pub and start crafting up your new creations.  This weeks challenge is "Faux Wood". This is a fun little challenge so jump on board and get involved.

Today for my card, I thought I would finally utilize some of my Magnolia Stamps which have not been inked as yet.

My faux wood is made with a combination of stamps, colouring and a textured embossing folder.  It has been mounted on dimensional tape to give it a little depth.  I bought these stamps last year but haven't used them as yet and although summer is over, while spending time scrapping by the pool earlier today I really felt like creating a card with a summery feel.  I created a frame for my picture, which then forms part of the card.  I made the scenery by layering a number of papers, and stamps using dimensional tape again to give it some dimension.  The left side of the card has a little pocket which incorporates a little tag with a lovely beachy quote.

Be sure to check out the creative designs that our Design Team have posted by jumping across to their blogs and giving them some love.  Their links can be found in my sidebar.  You have until 11:59 pm Friday, 18 March to link your creations here.  Can't wait to see what you come up with.  Until next time bloggers, happy scrapping/stamping.

Hugs,

Tash Daly

Now bloggers, for my design....

This was a real challenge for me cause any of you followers know that I do not usually do "Vintage" but this week I decided to have some fun with a design that I first saw a little while ago on the blog of the very fabulously talented Marlena called Paper Papillon.  Now of course many of you are familiar with Marlena's work as I only recently found out that she is a contributor to this fabulous Challenge Blog.  So thanks Marlena for the inspiration.

This sidestep card was really fun to make and I only wish that I had taken progressive photo's as it was fun to see it transformed from a singular piece of cream cardstock to this.  I cut the lamp and the flower vase from the card at the back and then popped them up so that they appeared to be sitting on the dresser.  I then prettied up the back with some extra card stock and pretty paper.

I then decorated the side and made a cute tag.  The flowers are all handmade and beaded (thanks Drew from Scrappy Happiness for your excellent lollipop flower tutorial).  Now for the close-ups.

Well bloggers, that's it for me.  Thanks for joining me again today and popping over to see what I have been up to.  Be sure to jump over to A Spoon Full of Sugar and check out the designs that the other lovely designers have created for you this week also.  Once again ladies, thanks for having me on your fabulous challenge site.  Until next time, happy scrapping/stamping.

Hugs,

Tash Daly

Heading to the Wild Wild West

Howdy bloggers.  Time for another tipsy Saturday at the Drunken Stampers Challenge Blog.  We have had so many wonderful entries during the week for Challenge #55 it was fabulous to see, so a big thank you to all entrants for all the support and entries.  This week we head off to the Wild Wild West with a fabulously fun  (drum roll please…drdrdrrdrdrdrdrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr) Rhinestone Cowgirl theme!!!  Yeeeehaaw, Giddiup!!

I had a terrific time playing with this theme this week. Can you tell?  I went to town with the colour, glitter and all types of textures as part of my ‘rustic’ theme.  I've had this beaut little stamp for a while but up until now she has not seen any ink.  So, as soon as I saw "Rhinestone Cowgirl", this little cheeky miss came to mind.  I immediately wanted to create a little scene to go with her, a la school art room style (at least that is how it felt).  I simply love all the texture on this tag, with the rope and the corrugated card, rhinestones, glitter and 3D paint.  Fun, fun, fun.

This is a really great theme so make sure that you drift on in to the pub and join the gunfight  at the I.N.K corral.  The “duel” is scheduled for Friday, 4th March 2011, so make sure you’re there or you’ll miss all the action.    In the meantime, our super talented girls have got some fabulously fun projects so be sure to stop by their saloons for some extra inspiration (see my sidebar for their links).  C’mon cowgirls…get those boot scooting boots on and line dance over to the nearest craft room and get ready to have some fun.  As for me the whiskeys on the house, the pianola is in full swing and this saloon girl is ready to swirl her boots around this here floor, so “you all come back now you hear”.

Hugs,

Tash Daly

My Little Valentine's Project

Hi bloggers, ok I know it is way past Valentine's day now, however, I thought I would post some of the little bookmarks that I made for my family to show them that I love them for Valentine's day.  I made them mainly for my nieces and one of my nephews (the others are way to old and would throw them away).  I made one for my daughter which you would have seen in one of my earlier posts for the Drunken Stampers challenge.  However, I was not satisfied with it and it evolved a bit before Valentine's day, so I will show you that one first:

You will notice that I have added the little flowers along the bottom and her name.  The next is one that I made for my little niece Stephanie who has just started school this year.  She is very excited about reading.

Next for my eldest niece.  Larissa is 12 years old and she looooooooves all things twilight!  So I decided to make her a little twilight reminder.  Unfortunately, she is team Jacob but I did not have a Jacob type stamp, so  Edward it had to be for her.

Note the sparkly skin! heheheh, I could not resist doing that.  I also made sure that I incorporated elements of the four books.  You will notice the apply, the flower, the chess piece and the red ribbon have therefore all been included.  Although I searched high and low for an apple and chess piece stamp I could not find one, so in the end I had to draw the images myself by coping the images on the books.  In the end it probably worked out better as in particular the chess piece is exactly like the one on the book.  I had a lot of fun with this one.  Then there is my nephews card:

His bookmark was very challenging as I am not at all confident when making craft or cards for little boys.  I figured all little boys love pirates and hey it beats a ballerina so a pirate it is!  The "map" background paper I had to draw myself and I just distressed it using distress inks.  The "coin" I also had to make myself.  I did so by covering a skull and crossbones (from TGF pirate set) stamp with aluminium foil. I then colored the foil using my copics and ensuring that I pressed hard enough for the impression of the image to come through.  Once finished I stuck the alfoil to a chipboard button to give it some depth before sticking it down. The trim was a yellow gold trim that I sprayed with "coffee shop" glimmermist and I had some initial beads that I thought would look fabulous for writing his name.  I was really happy with the end result.

Lastly I made a card for my sister.  She loves everything black and white and loves gothic images.  But I could not help but use this little image from the Greeting Farm as I thought it would lend itself very nicely to black and white (well in this case, black and silver).

I paper pieced her dress and coloured the head band using the same pattern from her dress.  I made the flower with white fabric and coloured it using "Antique Silver" Glimmermist.  I then touched up the flower, some of the paper and the feathers with some Kindy Glitz to maintain continuity of the silver glitter throughout.  She was really fun to make also as it was the first time that I have ever tried paper piecing.

I am just addicted to these little bookmarks, they are very enjoyable to make and you can incorporate all sorts of elements into them.  Luckily for me, Inkurable Stampers is having a bookmark challenge this month so these little beauties will be submitted into that challenge.  If you would like to submit something yourself check the site out here, there are some awesome prizes that are won each month.

Well that's it from me for the moment, I hope you enjoy these little cuties.  Thanks for stopping by and until next time, happy scrapping/stamping.

Hugs,

Tash Daly

To Die For

Hi there bloggers, it's Saturday and as usual I am back with a DT sample for the Drunken Stampers Challenge blog and this week the theme is "To Die For" so break out those dies and die cutting machines and get cutting.  This week I have prepared a card which is rather different than my usual style.  I decided to use nothing but dies in my card this week! Yup, that means no copics, no distress inks...eeeeeek! Will I survive?  Onto my card:

Well let me tell you ladies it was harder than I thought it was going to be to prepare a card without using any of the mediums I usually rely on, however, it is a good one for the kiddies and can be adapted for invitations etc. I am not so sure everyone would find this as challenging as myself, however, for me...who loves to distress and can't live without my copics, this was a big challenge to set myself.  So for this card, I broke out my new Cricut Expressions and my "Create a Critter" cartridge and went to town.  I am not yet familiar with my poor little machine as yet so I am afraid that it is not yet being used to its maximum capabilities, but I will get there....If any of you ladies have any tips I would love to hear them.

Well ladies, that is it from me, however, make sure that you check out my fellow design team members and check out the very special cards they have prepared for you this week.  They are all fabulous.  Make sure you join us this week and have some fun!  Till next time, happy scrapping/stamping.

There's a New Little Fairy In Town!!

Hi there bloggers, I am back with another challenge entry today.  I received my new stamps from Tickled Pink Stamps yesterday and was sooo excited as it included my new "Fairy Kira" stamp.  If you haven't already been across to Tickled Pink Stamps to see their new release, you should do so a.s.a.p!!  The whole release is gorgeous, but this little Miss has certainly captured my heart! (and my imagination).  This week at Tickled Pink's Challenge Blog, the theme was "Birthday Wishes". I took up the gauntlet and this is what I came up with.....

I should mention first that I have this week also discovered another fabulous crafter.  Her name is Kathy Files and she is from the very popular blog Paper Phenomenon, now if you are at all into scrapbooks and mini albums this is the person to watch ladies!!  She is fabulous!!  She runs a blog (in fact several) a kit blog, you tube videos and ustream classes...I am telling you amazing, amazing, amazing!!  Anyway, she provided the inspiration for the little "extra" something I included in my card this week.

I should mention before I go back to my project that I was running a little behind time on this project so in my rush, I had to squeeze it in wherever and whenever I could...hence, the photo's have been taken at my daughter's ballet school whilst she was in ballet (excuse the shots) so that I could post this in time for the challenge. Now back to my card....

Unfortunately, because of my desperate attempt of photographing this in time I don't think you can see all the beautiful glitter!! I wanted to make this card like a fairy garden and very feminine and pretty.  I think the result is very whimsical.  The papers range that I have used is Kaiser's Hippy Girl collection.  I have distressed my project throughout using the following distress inks and a distressing tool, "Crushed Olive", "Walnut Stain" and "Vintage Photo".  As mentioned this gorgeous image is part of Tickled Pinks Lil Lolita and Lads Allsorts Collection.

I will update this post with further details about my card later tonight and I will have to in time make a you tube video so that you can see the whole of the album and how it opens and closes etc as there are little pockets and tags all over the place.  But for the meantime, I hope you enjoy it!
Big hugs,
Tash Daly
