Hi bloggers, ok I know it is way past Valentine's day now, however, I thought I would post some of the little bookmarks that I made for my family to show them that I love them for Valentine's day. I made them mainly for my nieces and one of my nephews (the others are way to old and would throw them away). I made one for my daughter which you would have seen in one of my earlier posts for the Drunken Stampers challenge. However, I was not satisfied with it and it evolved a bit before Valentine's day, so I will show you that one first:
You will notice that I have added the little flowers along the bottom and her name. The next is one that I made for my little niece Stephanie who has just started school this year. She is very excited about reading.
Next for my eldest niece. Larissa is 12 years old and she looooooooves all things twilight! So I decided to make her a little twilight reminder. Unfortunately, she is team Jacob but I did not have a Jacob type stamp, so Edward it had to be for her.
Note the sparkly skin! heheheh, I could not resist doing that. I also made sure that I incorporated elements of the four books. You will notice the apply, the flower, the chess piece and the red ribbon have therefore all been included. Although I searched high and low for an apple and chess piece stamp I could not find one, so in the end I had to draw the images myself by coping the images on the books. In the end it probably worked out better as in particular the chess piece is exactly like the one on the book. I had a lot of fun with this one. Then there is my nephews card:
His bookmark was very challenging as I am not at all confident when making craft or cards for little boys. I figured all little boys love pirates and hey it beats a ballerina so a pirate it is! The "map" background paper I had to draw myself and I just distressed it using distress inks. The "coin" I also had to make myself. I did so by covering a skull and crossbones (from TGF pirate set) stamp with aluminium foil. I then colored the foil using my copics and ensuring that I pressed hard enough for the impression of the image to come through. Once finished I stuck the alfoil to a chipboard button to give it some depth before sticking it down. The trim was a yellow gold trim that I sprayed with "coffee shop" glimmermist and I had some initial beads that I thought would look fabulous for writing his name. I was really happy with the end result.
Lastly I made a card for my sister. She loves everything black and white and loves gothic images. But I could not help but use this little image from the Greeting Farm as I thought it would lend itself very nicely to black and white (well in this case, black and silver).
I paper pieced her dress and coloured the head band using the same pattern from her dress. I made the flower with white fabric and coloured it using "Antique Silver" Glimmermist. I then touched up the flower, some of the paper and the feathers with some Kindy Glitz to maintain continuity of the silver glitter throughout. She was really fun to make also as it was the first time that I have ever tried paper piecing.
I am just addicted to these little bookmarks, they are very enjoyable to make and you can incorporate all sorts of elements into them. Luckily for me, Inkurable Stampers is having a bookmark challenge this month so these little beauties will be submitted into that challenge. If you would like to submit something yourself check the site out here, there are some awesome prizes that are won each month.
Well that's it from me for the moment, I hope you enjoy these little cuties. Thanks for stopping by and until next time, happy scrapping/stamping.
Hugs,
Tash Daly
